Anyone can claim they know SQL. A public portfolio, a short write-up of a real analysis, or a dashboard link proves it. Projects that solve a real question beat certificates.

Apply like a human, reach out like one too

The application is table stakes. A short, specific message to someone on the team, or a warm referral, is what moves you to the top of the pile.

• Pick two or three companies you genuinely want and go deep.
• Reference something specific about the role or team.
• Follow up once, politely.
