Mock Interview Preparation Guide for Data Analysts

Know the four rounds

Most data analyst loops test SQL, a case or product-sense question, a bit of statistics, and behavioural fit. Prepare for each deliberately rather than hoping.

Drill SQL out loud

Practise writing joins, window functions, and aggregations while explaining your thinking. Interviewers care about how you reason, not just the final query.

• Rehearse a clear structure for case questions: clarify, break down, analyse, recommend.
• Prepare three or four STAR stories for behavioural rounds.
• Do at least one full mock interview before the real thing.

Treat the mock as the real one

A realistic mock surfaces the gaps you cannot see yourself. Feedback from someone who has been on the other side of the table is worth more than another hour of solo prep.
