Resume Tips for Data Analyst Roles

Diwakar ChaurasiaAugust 20, 2026

Start with impact, not duties

Recruiters spend seconds on a first pass. Lead every bullet with the outcome you drove, then the tools you used to get there. "Cut reporting time 40% by automating a weekly SQL pipeline" beats "Responsible for reporting."

Make it ATS-friendly

Most applications are filtered before a human sees them. Mirror the language of the job description, spell out tools (SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Excel), and avoid tables or graphics that parsers choke on.

  • Quantify everything you can: rows, users, revenue, time saved.
  • Keep it to one page for early-career profiles.
  • Put a short skills section near the top with the exact stack.

Tailor per role

A generic resume reads as generic. Adjust the top third for each application so the most relevant projects are impossible to miss.
